The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research conducts the Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test two times annually. The first session of the CSIR NET will be held in June 2025 to determine candidates’ eligibility for Junior Research fellowships and appointment as Assistant Professor, or wish to get admission in Ph.D.
The CSIR NET exam is administered by the National Testing Agency, and the exam is conducted in the CBT mode. The NTA has not released any notice about the June 2025 application form; however, based on the past year’s trend, we can expect the release of the public notice and information bulletin for the CSIR NET June 2025 in May 2025.

Who is eligible?
Candidates interested in the CSIR NET June 2025 application can check the eligibility criteria for the national exam below:
- Educational Qualification:
- Applicants must have secured at least 55% marks (General/EWS/UR candidates) or 50% marks (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/ PwD/ Third-gender category candidates) in the Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a recognized University or college.
- Applicants who are in the final year and have appeared for the final examination can apply, but they must meet the above marks requirement when the result is out.
- A 5% reduction in educational qualification marks is available to Ph.D. holders who finished their Master’s or equivalent exam before September 19, 1991, when applying for the CSIR NET.
- Applicants who have cleared or are appearing for the final examination of a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree course with at least 75% marks can apply for the national level examination.
- Age Limit:
- There is no age limit for admission to PhD or Assistant Professor appointment, however, there is an upper age limit for the JRF award, that is 30 years as on the exam month.
